When the shuttle doesn’t run…
I took some time off work specifically during the school’s academic winter break because the shuttle does not run on holidays. Unfortunately it doesn’t run even one day before or after finals end or the quarters begin. So rather than pay a ludicrous amount of money for a parking permit for two days, I’ve asked a couple coworkers to give me a ride. (Yes, I am too lazy to walk or ride my bike!) In December it worked out great, this woman Heather had basically the same schedule as me, so it was no problem for her to pick me up on her way. Well, for the two days I’ve got to be here before the shuttle starts running, I asked a girl who just moved closer to the lab to give me a ride. The catch was that she doesn’t have a car - she’s been taking her motorcycle to work. Well, I’m game, I don’t want to walk, and it’s only across campus. So this morning I donned my rally helmet (after I remembered to take my earrings out, which I had to do anyway…I wore a pair of non-gold earrings on New Year’s Day which always irritate my piercing so now I have that crusty gook on my ear), and away we went. It was a short trip, and Charlotte’s quite good at riding, even though it’s relatively new to her (don’t be scared, she’s been riding for a few months, has had the bike a couple months, and already had taken other passengers!). I’m looking forward to our trips this afternoon and tomorrow. What a way to wake up!
