Wedding Planning Update #43 - Reception Music Selections
Kris and I spent basically the entire weekend picking out songs for our DJ to play during our wedding reception. We came up with a preliminary list of lots of songs we loved, picking some out for the “introduction” music, the “father-daughter dance,” and the “cake cutting.” The next day we looked at the list and realized that we had 5 1/2 hours of music - WAY too much for a 5-hour reception - an hour of which is the cocktail hour, and another hour of which is basically sitting down and eating. It was really difficult, but we were able to cut down the list to 3 1/2 hours of “must-play” songs, which includes all those “special” songs. So now we have songs picked out for the “bouquet” dance (I am not going to reveal what that is until the reception, sorry!
), the “mother-son” dance, and our “last dance” song too. It was a lot of fun going through all our music and discovering songs we didn’t realize we had (mostly courtesy of my friend Ray!), and very surprising to see really how few songs compose THREE HOURS worth of music. I’m really happy we’re done with it though - because it was due today!
